Lotus’ Next Big Move

Originally to be unveiled during the summer of 2013, production of the Lotus Elan has been delayed until 2016 — at the earliest. According to various sources, this was done to allow the Evora to have a more traditional life-cycle with Lotus. This delay also gives the company time to produce a roadster and “track only” version of the car.
Lotus has been quoted as calling the Elan the “beating heart” of the new Lotus line up because it has been designed for both road and track use. The rear-wheel drive Elan will feature a 4.0 liter V6 which will produce 444hp and 343 lb-ft of torque and tips the scales at just 2,855 lbs.
As for styling, the Elan has been given an aggressive and cutting-edge look. Since the Lotus badge will be on the car, it’s a safe bet that the interior design will be just as luxurious as the exterior. The price of the Elan is estimated to start around $96,000. With four more years until the release, you have plenty of time to start saving.
